Youth who are disadvantaged economically, socially, or both can miss the opportunity to learn the joy and discipline of hockey. The Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that every child gets an opportunity to participate in hockey.
Carlos and Dalia knew that they couldn’t support Scotty’s hockey by themselves. They worked even harder than ever to raise funds to support Scotty’s participation in a competitive league. They know that many families don’t realize they can even do that. The parents have to be committed: getting kids to and from practice, keeping them in gear, and covering costs. The children have to work hard too, not just at playing hockey but at school, and at supporting the costs of hockey.
The Foundation exists to grow the pool of hockey talent and level of competition in the state of Alaska so more young hockey players can achieve their highest potential.
What we do
- Renovate Anchorage neighborhood hockey rinks in partnership with the Rasmuson Foundation, State of Alaska and the Anchorage Parks Foundation
- Make grants to the Scotty Gomez Foundation Hockey Association, a closely affiliated non-profit association of the Anchorage Hockey Association.
- Assumed responsibility for a school district-wide girls’ hockey program after the Anchorage School District closed the program.
In an effort to help raise money to fulfill our mission, the Foundation holds several fundraisers throughout the year.
